Biblical Preaching and Teaching, Mission Minded Community in Christ

Welcome!

Welcome to the Cedarville United Presbyterian Church website.  We've been expecting you.  God is busy here and we invite you to join our growing Cedarville United family for worship, study, small groups, missions and ministry.  This site has been designed to inform members, friends and visitors of what we're about, who we are, and what's coming up.  We aspire to be rooted in Jesus Christ through a common faith, biblical worship, authentic community and helping to fulfill the Great Commission with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.

A Word from Pastor Drew ~ Going All Summer”

I have spoken with a number of “retirees” who have said they are far more busy now than they ever were in their working years.  If you are retired, you probably know what I mean.  Summer “break” is a term that is just about as misleading as “retired”.  If you are anything like me and my family, summer is anything, but a break.  Most of us will be go, go, going every single one of the dog days of summer.

Well, guess what?  If you spend your days going all the time, you might have a pretty good idea about what Jesus wants for the church.  After all, Jesus’ last word for the church was “go” (Matthew 28:18).  Now, Jesus did not mean be “busy” for the church.  He did not mean “run around like a chicken with your head cut off” for the church.  He just meant “go”.  He meant be an “outie” for Christ instead of an “innie”.  Jesus never said, “expect them to come in and make disciples of all nations”.  He said, “go and make disciples of all nations”.  Let’s not wait for people to come in for Christ.  Instead, let’s take Christ out to the people.  This important distinction is at the heart of the growing, thriving church today.  “Outie” churches are growing while “innie” churches are dying.  Which do you want to be?

I hope your summer is spent go, go, going, but not in the way your used to. This summer, go for Christ.  Bless your next door neighbor for no reason at all and with no strings attached.  Stop by the senior center to visit and encourage the folks there. Tell the next total stranger you meet that God loves them and you want to pray for them. Tell the waitress at your next meal. Strike up a conversation about something a little deeper than the weather. Ask at least ten more people to enter into a 30 day prayer covenant with you.  If you go like that, what a summer that will be!

Praying for you in Christ,

                                                Pastor Drew

Great job Choir!
Thanks to Becky Gillaugh and the choir for their offering of “I Know My Redeemer Lives” on Easter Sunday. Thanks also to Roger Dobbins and friends for the new screen in the sanctuary and the creative use of space! The screen will be put to good use for years to come.
The Miami Valley Women’s Center is collecting items for its cause. Cedarville United Presbyterian Church is helping with the collection. At the front of the sanctuary is a baby crib. Please donate diapers, baby clothes, toiletries, etc. to put in the crib for the Women’s Center. They will also take monetary donations. If you have items to donate or questions, please contact the office or Charlie Huff at (937) 245-9519.

Hope you had a wonderful Easter!
Thank you again to our Secret Santa for purchasing a new, larger screen for the sanctuary. We used it Easter Sunday for our cantata.
April 4th was our Easter Cantata. As Jesus’ life was portrayed on the screen, the choir rejoiced:
“I Know My Redeemer Lives”
Also, thank you to those who worked to install the new screen and work to insure that the DVD and sound all work properly together. They include: Roger Dobbins, Terry Gillaugh, Kurt Bublick, and Chet Murphy. Thank you all for your time and talent!                                           ~ Becky Gillaugh
