Biblical Preaching and Teaching, Mission Minded Community in Christ

Welcome!

Welcome to the Cedarville United Presbyterian Church website.  We've been expecting you.  God is busy here and we invite you to join our growing Cedarville United family for worship, study, small groups, missions and ministry.  This site has been designed to inform members, friends and visitors of what we're about, who we are, and what's coming up.  We aspire to be rooted in Jesus Christ through a common faith, biblical worship, authentic community and helping to fulfill the Great Commission with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.

We'll save a seat for ya!

A Word from our Pastor – Love in the Air!

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, which means, there is love in the air.  I hope you use this Hallmark holiday to take an inventory of the love in your life.  Think about each person you love, and even the ones you don’t, and consider how you will love them more in 2010.

The bible has several words for love.  There are four in particular.  Eros is romantic love or the word used for physical attraction.  Philia is brotherly love or love shared between companions who are not romantically involved.  Storge is the word used for natural affection like you would find between parents and their children.  Finally, there is agape.  Agape is unconditional love.  This is the kind of love Jesus offers us, and it is the kind that Jesus wants from us.  Agape is the only kind of love that will support all the others.  When someone asks you, “what is love?”, agape is the answer that most completely fits.  Also, when you are struggling with any aspect of love, agape is the kind of love that will give you the best chance to overcome.

Agape love is the kind of love so many have had for Haiti.  I want to say thank you for your interest in, your prayers for, and your financial gifts to His Home for Children.  His Home is the orphanage that our kids, Jimy and Eden, came from.  So far, we have raise more than $3500 for His Home.  That does not include the checks sitting on my desk right now or the funds numerous folks have sent directly.  Jesus said, “whenever you do this for the least of these brothers [and sisters] of mine, you do it for me”.  Thank you!  You really have.

                                                                                      Pastor Drew

Go Green with the Grapevine!

There is still time to go green! Everyone is “going green” and churches should not be excluded from that list. With ink and toner cartridge disposals contaminating our landfills, millions of trees cut down for our paper supply, and the increasing costs of these products, churches should look for the most effective way to get the Message out to the people as green as possible. This is why Cedarville United Presbyterian Church is looking to increase the email/website distribution of our Grapevine newsletter versus mailing them out via bulk mail.

If you'd like to join the GREEN GROUP, just send us your request to "Go Green for the Grapevine" along with the email address you want to use to receive the newsletter.
